Application process

Our Division recruits 4 cardiology fellows per year.  Eligibility is according to qualifications set forth in the Section of Eligibility and Selection of Residents of the Accreditation Counsel for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).  We select from among eligible applicants on the basis of candidates’ demonstrated ability, clinical and academic accomplishments, strength of written recommendations, and personal qualities. Qualified applicants are not discriminated against with regard to sex, race, age, religion, color, national origin, disability or veteran status.

Our Division participates in the National Residency matching program. We accept applications through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS). For application materials, you may contact the ERAS WEBSITE. Our program Number is 141-352-1251. Three letters of recommendation should be included with your application. From those applicants who apply, we select 30-40 outside applicants for interviews in the spring, in addition to considering internal SLRHC candidates. Interviews are usually held on three to four dates, involving ~ 10 candidates per day. Invited candidates receive an introduction to our program from our Director of Cardiology between 9-10 AM and then are interviewed by 4-5 faculty members and then receive a tour of facilities. At lunch time, the candidates meet informally with our current cardiology fellows to gain a further in-depth understanding of our program from the fellows’ perspective.

Timetable for Application:

    •  ERAS post office opens September 1
    • Application deadline January 15
    • Interviews offered to selected applicants in early March

Our program Number is: 141-352-1251
